Turning Credentials Into Careers: UMGC Partners with Territorium to Power Lifelong Learning
The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has selected Territorium as its partner to power a next-generation digital credentialing system that supports student success and career mobility. By adopting Comprehensive Learner Records (CLRs) and digital badges, UMGC is creating a future-ready framework that captures academic, co-curricular, and skills-based learning in a secure and portable format, allowing students to own and communicate their entire learning journey.
Through LifeJourney, Territorium’s Learning and Employment Record (LER) credentialing ecosystem, UMGC can now issue verified digital credentials that reflect both the academic outcomes and career-relevant competencies learners acquire.
“The University of Maryland Global Campus has determined that Comprehensive Learner Records (CLRs) and digital badges assist learners in achieving their educational and career objectives. UMGC has chosen Territorium as the right partner to provide the platform for issuing digital credentials. Territorium’s impressive LifeJourney app enables learners to connect their skills to the job market. It allows learners to take the app and build their credentials once they become alumni. The overall Territorium credentialing ecosystem promotes the idea of lifelong learning, something that is a core pillar for UMGC,” said Insiya Bream, Registrar & Associate Vice President at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Guillermo Elizondo, CEO and Co-Founder of Territorium added, “UMGC’s leadership in digital credentialing shows what’s possible when institutions prioritize student outcomes over outdated systems. Our platform doesn’t just record what learners do—it actively helps them move forward. Together with UMGC, we’re making lifelong learning not just an idea but a practical tool for long-term success.”
This partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to innovation, access, and lifelong learning. With Territorium’s platform and tools now in place, UMGC is giving its learners and alumni the ability to turn their academic efforts into actionable, career-aligned outcomes, reinforcing the university’s mission to support students not just during their education but throughout their lives.
