Kean University Partners with Territorium to Launch New Skills-Focused Solution, Revolutionizing Student Career Success
Empowering Students with a Skills-Based Solution: Territorium and Kean University Partner to Launch an Industry-Certified Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) with Badging and a Digital Credential Wallet
Territorium, a global education technology leader with over 13 million users worldwide, announced today a new partnership with Kean University to provide their students with a comprehensive learner record (CLR) with built-in badging capability and LifeJourney, Territorium’s AI-powered credential wallet.
Enhancing the First-Year Experience
LifeJourney integrates seamlessly with Kean’s Cougar Climb first-year experience program, where students earn badges representing crucial skill sets. By connecting these badges to the app, students can match their verified skills with an extensive database of job opportunities. This skills-based approach not only streamlines the job search process but also increases the chances of finding a job that is the perfect fit for each student’s unique competencies and achievements.
A Holistic View of Student Skills
“The CLR combined with a digital credential wallet provides a holistic view of a student’s skills and achievements, thereby offering a more equitable basis for assessing potential beyond traditional academic metrics,” said Dr. Joseph Youngblood, II, senior vice president for Transformational Learning and External Affairs at Kean University. “This skills-based approach aims to offer Kean students a competitive advantage and increase opportunities for them to enter a wide range of graduate education and career paths, ultimately leading to greater social mobility and economic empowerment.”
Comprehensive Digital Credential Management
LifeJourney offers a comprehensive suite of features designed to support students in managing their educational and career growth efficiently. One of its key features is digital credential management, which provides a centralized wallet for all digital credentials, including badges, microcredentials, and comprehensive learner records. This ensures that all student achievements are stored securely and are easily accessible at any time.
Career Matching and Progress Tracking
Additionally, the app includes a career-matching tool that uses advanced job-matching technology to connect students with suitable career paths based on their verified skills. Students at Kean will be able to select specific career pathways to evaluate their credentials against, which aids in focused and effective career planning.
Moreover, the app facilitates progress tracking, allowing students to monitor their advancements along chosen career paths to ensure alignment with their long-term career goals.
Engaging and Supporting First-Year Students
Kerrin Lyles, acting vice president for Student Affairs at Kean, said first-year students who participate in the Cougar Climb can earn badges for academic engagement, career development, civic engagement, global and cultural awareness, health and wellness, as well as leadership and professional development.
More than 1,880 first-year students participated in the program during the last academic year.
“Many of Kean’s students are the first in their families to attend college, and we want to engage them from the moment they set foot on campus to help them persist to graduation,” Lyles said. “This program provides them incentives through the badges while also improving their student experience and connecting them with valuable campus resources and career opportunities.”
Built-in Job Search Feature
Another significant feature is its built-in job search, which provides access to millions of job listings. This uses students’ verified skills and selected pathways as filters to refine job search results. Collectively, these features make LifeJourney a powerful tool for students navigating their educational and professional journeys.
Future-Proofing Careers
“By focusing on digital credentials and skill verification, LifeJourney empowers learners and future-proofs their careers in today’s dynamic job market,” said Guillermo Elizondo, CEO of Territorium. “Kean is ensuring that their graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the global workforce.”
