Revolutionizing Education: Strategic Partnership Includes New Workshop Series to Enhance Skill Transparency and Student Outcomes

Territorium, a global education technology leader focusing on connecting students to academic and career pathways, announced a new strategic partnership with the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) today.

As the leading champion of undergraduate liberal education, AAC&U has partnered with Territorium to enhance how student learning, skills, and competencies are gathered, validated, and used for career success.

To further this initiative, the collaboration will introduce a new 4-part workshop series to provide higher education professionals with practical insights and strategies related to Learning and Employment Records (LERs) and Comprehensive Learner Records (CLRs).

The series, titled Telling the Story of Learning for Career Success: A Design Series on Learning and Employment Records (LERs) and Comprehensive Learners Records (CLRs) in Higher Education, will launch in October with the following sessions:

  • October 10th: In the Beginning: Defining the Starting Point with LER/CLR Adoption and Connections with Student Learning
  • October 23rd: Linking the Liberal Arts with LERs/CLRs: The Power of Storytelling Through Skills Achievement
  • November 1st: Going Further by Going Together: How LERs/CLRS Drive Meaningful Collaboration and Partnerships
  • November 13th: What Works and What Doesn’t: Getting Real About Effective Implementation of LERs/CLRs

Leveraging Territorium’s innovative technology alongside AAC&U’s commitment to liberal education, this partnership will support institutions as they focus on student learning and career success. This workshop series is just one component of the broader partnership between AAC&U and Territorium, which aims to redefine the traditional academic transcript to make learning achievements transparent and comprehensible long after course completion.

By moving beyond course codes and letter grades, Territorium and AAC&U are committed to supporting higher education institutions in implementing curricula that empower students to own their skills and effectively communicate their accomplishments. This shift addresses the urgent need for graduates who are prepared for the rapidly changing demands of the global workforce.

“This partnership not only aims to transform the student learning experience but also prepares learners more effectively for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world, ensuring they can navigate and succeed in a dynamic professional landscape,” said Guillermo Elizondo, CEO of Territorium. This initiative also signifies a steadfast commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in higher education, aligning academic offerings more closely with the evolving job market.

Using Territorium’s LifeJourney solution, students are empowered with a 1EdTech-certified, interoperable comprehensive learner record (CLR) that includes a badging platform, a skills-first digital wallet, and AI-powered career pathways with job-matching technology. Territorium’s LifeJourney demonstrates the value of higher education in a skills-oriented economy that builds upon students’ academic learning experiences and showcases their skills and preparedness for entering the workforce.

By focusing on skills and competencies that are crucial in today’s economy, Territorium and AAC&U are working on new standards in educational practices that promise to enhance the value and relevance of higher education.

“Higher education has long prepared students with the skills and abilities for career success. But we are in a new era with regard to the transparency of these efforts and their alignment with an emergent workforce. Together, AAC&U and Territorium will be catalyzing conversations that champion why curricular learning is instrumental for empowering students to seek purpose and meaning across a range of career paths,” said Ashley Finley, Vice President of Research and Senior Advisor to the President at AAC&U.

As part of this new partnership with Territorium, AAC&U member institutions will receive a significant pricing discount on LifeJourney for their campus.
